Employee Spotlight – James David Agerton

David joined DENTALEZ about 20 years ago, first coming to us full-time on the chair-mounted delivery unit line.  After observing the skills that he brought to the position, we promoted him a short time later to the Quality Dept. where he picked up valuable skills in return goods, receiving inspection, calibration, line inspection and first article inspection. After several years in Quality, he joined the technical support team. We asked him to tell us a little bit more about his various experiences with DENTALEZ and what he likes most about his work today!

What was the work experience you brought to us in 2001 and how did that lend itself to your first position?

I started working full-time, right out of high school. My first job was in a factory, building furniture. That paved the way for my first job with DENTALEZ in 1984. I was a temp, hired to build the first-ever portable dental field chair and stool for the military! It was pretty cool actually ― the chairs would break down and fit into a fiberglass crate that would be parachuted in the field (one chair and stool in each box).
Then I went back to the furniture business for five years or so, then, I was hired by Rohr Industries, a manufacturing company that moved from California to Foley, Alabama to build airplane parts for Boeing airplanes. I worked for a few years as a Landscape Supervisor, then I went back into the aircraft industry at Packard Hughes Interconnect as a Tie Table Process Trainer, building wiring harnesses for every model of Boeing planes.

In 2001 I was hired at DENTALEZ full-time. I started on the chair-mounted unit line and after 90 days went to the Quality Dept. After a couple of years, I moved into my current position in technical support.

What do you like about working in the dental industry?

Seeing the continuous changes and improvements we have made to our equipment.

What’s your favorite aspect of your job?

When I was interviewed for the QA job (this was DENTALEZ Alabama) the question I was asked was “Where do you want to end up at DENTALEZ?”. My answer was Technical Support because I get great joy out of helping people. This job allows me to do that every day. I love my job.

What’s your favorite DENTALEZ product and why?

Our current NuSimplicity chair with its designer look. It is the best-looking chair I’ve seen out there. These chairs are easy for the dentist and hygienist to use, easy to install and easy to work on.
